Protect Your Home ~ Radiation Fallout

Family and Friends ~ Be proactive with your health. Here are some suggestions from Dr. Young to protect yourself from the fallout in Japan.

Dear Young Living Family,

As you have undoubtedly heard, Japan is currently suffering from the effects of a massive earthquake, which in turn created a devastating tsunami. Our thoughts and prayers are with our distributors and employees in Japan as they cope with this catastrophe. While all Young Living employees are accounted for, we have not yet been able to make contact with all of our distributors. My team and I are making every effort to get in touch with these YL family members to check on their safety.

Beyond the immediate impact of this disaster, several nuclear reactors on the eastern coast of Japan have been compromised. Radiation exposure can have devastating health consequences, a fact I learned during my extensive research on the Chernobyl disaster in the 1980s. As happened with Chernobyl, there are concerns that any leaked radiation from one or more Japanese nuclear reactors may be carried by air currents across large portions of the globe.

Japanese authorities are working to repair these reactors and contain the radiation. However, the true extent of these leaks is not yet known, and they could have the potential to affect people in Japan and across the world. Knowing this, we can take prudent precautionary steps to protect ourselves and loved ones from potential radioactive effects.

Natural Anti-inflammatory

Found in small amounts in most foods, the natural sulfur known as MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) has been used for years to treat pain associated with joints and muscles.

Sulfur is a necessary part of proteins, including those proteins that make up the cartilage, muscles, hair, nails, and skin. Since it is a component of all these things, it is not surprising that arthritis sufferers who supplement their diets with MSM report stronger nails and faster-growing hair.

MSM absorbs very well even through the skin, and can be used in cream form for topical application. No matter the form it comes in (cream, liquid, powder or pill) MSM is an anti-inflammatory and often found with other supplements known to be beneficial for arthritis such as glucosamine. Unlike glucosamine, MSM does not work to rebuild cartilage and connective tissues, nor does it help lubricate joints the way chondroitin is reported to work. Instead, MSM helps the body transport nutrients through cell membranes and into the cells where they are needed most.

Some animal lovers may know MSM better by another name. It is actually a more refined version of a supplement known as DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide). This supplement was used extensively for large livestock, and veterinarians applied it to the legs of racehorses for pain. There are so many men and women having and dying from heart disease, heart attacks and strokes. When the heart muscle dies, there is little one can do.

It’s an epidemic!

We take the family out to eat at fast food places or to a nice restaurant to enjoy a good, big fat steak, baked potato with lots of butter and a cocktail.

You may ask, “How can one huge meal, even with all those fats, trigger an attack?“

It’s not from just that one meal, it’s from a lifestyle of eating. Nearly one million Americans die each year of heart and blood vessel diseases, and heart disease accounts for 30 percent of deaths worldwide. People, we are dying of heart disease because of the way we eat.

You cannot take one pill, no matter how powerful, and then follow it with a huge fat meal of pork ribs, French fries, ice cream and soda.

Don’t wait for a symptom!

If your waiting for a signal, it will probably come too late. Approximately 40 percent of people will develop a heart attack and not even have a symptom.

Don’t think, “Well, when I have chest pains, or I start feeling something in my heart, then I’ll change my behavior and change my eating habits.” A heart attach strikes when you least expect it.

The heart is an organ about the size of your fist that beats day and night, at sixty to eighty beats a minute. Two main arteries encircle the heart, supplying it with blood and oxygen.

As time goes on, you get nicks or little injuries, in the lining of those arteries from thing like high blood pressure, stress, inhaling smoke, or eating the wrong foods. In order to heal the injuries, the body deposit’s a cholesterol type of band-aid patch on the injuries, leaving a cholesterol deposit. Year after year, you have more and more of these patches lining your arteries, that allows less and less blood to flow through. Leading to heart disease.

The treatment…angioplasty and stent. A procedure in which a tiny plastic tube (a stent) is inserted to an already blocked artery, allowing blood to flow through.
Then there is bypass surgery. These are NOT the TRUE answer to the problem of heart disease!

We must start to focus on the ROOT CAUSES of the disease and avoid foods and other substances that cause injury to the lining of the blood vessels. Cardiac bypass surgery cost up to $44,000, angioplasty, up to $15,000 with each stent that is put in costing $2,000 each.
Prevention of heart disease costs mere pennies on the dollar.

Many say, “It’s heredity. My dad, and grandfather had it, I guess I’ll have it too.”

In most cases heart disease is not a problem of heredity but of lifestyle, diet and nutrition…what we are putting into our bodies. More often than not, your family is passing down bad eating habits, not heart disease.

What foods do I avoid?

Foods high in sugar and foods that are highly processed. Avoid trans fats completely, limit fried foods and saturated fats and choose healthy fats.

The most important thing you can do to fight heart disease is to understand that your body, according to 1 Corinthians 6:19,20, does not belong to you but belongs to God, and we are to glorify God in our body.

How do we glorify God in our body?

By choosing to lay on the altar foods that are destroying our health. It could be French fries, ice cream, fried chicken, or before bedtime, cookies soda or potato chips.

God desires that you have perfect health both spiritually and physically.

Did you know that the Centers for Disease Control estimates that one in five adults in the U.S. does not have any health insurance?

Change For Life

Welcome to our "Prosper and Be In Health" blog. We are glad you stopped by and we do pray that you grasp a nugget or two from what you read. We are excited to be able to share with you, what we have been blessed with... God first, family, friends, and good health.
It's hard to enjoy much if we are battling sickness all the time.

With the New Year fast approaching, we look forward to new things taking place. Please be patient with us, as we are changing the look of our blog.

Here is a bit about how we got started in learning to take care of our health...

Our journey for better health came when a serious health condition (due to a blood transfusion) struck me. It not only struck me, it struck my whole family. For when one of our loved ones are hurting, we hurt with them, just as we rejoice with them that rejoice.

My/our journey begin over 20 years ago and continues to this day...No, it hasn't been an easy road and still at times it's a hard trek. It takes MUCH discipline, praying, researching, learning (through trial and error) and changing of lifestyle.

I had to take drastic measures. I could put it in the hands of the medical profession, who seem to want to prescribe you pills, potions, or injections. My options...natural remedies or chemically induced remedies.

Doctors told me that it would be impossible to restore my liver without the chemicals they wanted me to put into my body. I told them, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. There is NOTHING impossible with God.

Choosing natural remedies meant that I had to change the things I was putting into and on my body. I even had to change our shampoos, lotions, toothpastes, laundry soap, etc. because all the chemicals in them absorb into our skin and blood stream and our liver filters it all.

I started eating better foods, (organic and more fresh) exercising, doing complete body cleanses, drinking herbal drinks and teas, taking supplements.

In 2005 I went back to the doctor, they run tests, and...low and behold, my liver was restored! The doctor said he hadn't seen anything like it before. I give God the glory, smiled and have never been back!

Most of us fight an ongoing battle in our minds about our body image. We wish our bodies would look a certain way; we’d like to maintain a certain weight, and none of us like ourselves when we are controlled by our cravings. In order to win this war with our health, we need to set our minds on our royal call, not our cravings. Our diets need to be about our desire to honor our King, not about denying ourselves certain foods.


Queen Esther is an excellent example for us to follow. Her God-ordained position as queen was not to glorify herself. She did not even have a desire to be queen, but instead her desire was to honor her God and He raised her up to save her people. She didn’t need to be the prettiest in the land to win the heart of a King or to save a nation, she just surrendered all of herself to her King--heart, mind, soul and body. Imagine if we, God’s children, realized that everything we put into our bodies either builds up or tears down the temple of the living God. How differently would we choose what we let in?

To Honor God
“Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple.” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

Most of us are likely to miss out on the power of the biblical word picture found in the above verse. Today, temples are often viewed as merely tourist attractions or a majestic something of the past; but to God's chosen people, the temple was the lifeblood of the civilization, the house of the Lord. It held the source of power, direction, and protection. It was the most beautifully designed, painstakingly immaculate, awe-inspiring fixture in the entire culture. It was functional, holy, and artistic all in one. Why would God use this spectacular man-made creation as a symbol for our earthly body? Because both are His chosen place of dwelling and both were designed by the Lord, Himself. Let us do this to honor the One who gave His very life for us. Let’s spend the next thirty days treasuring His Temple…Our bodies!

To Experience Good Health

Our God, Our Daddy, in Heaven tells us in His word that above all things He wants our soul to prosper and for “His Children” to experience good health. He loves us so much that He addresses us as beloved.

Dream with me for a moment: What if all Christians took care of our bodies for the right reasons, the right way—through proper nutrition, exercise, and rest—the results would be amazing:

* Imagine our Pastors, Evangelists, and Missionaries having the health and energy to finish their ministries strong. Studies show that only one out of ten pastors will still be in the ministry by the time they reach sixty years of age—physical and emotional burn-out being the major cause.
* Think about how much money would be saved on medical bills and health insurance and how much we would enjoy our Golden years in life if we invest in our health now.
* Can you envision what God’s people could accomplish here on earth if the body of Christ had more energy and clearer minds? We would have more involvement in all church ministries and our outreach programs and Prayer teams. Even more, we could remember the sermons each Sunday if we started our morning with a nutritious meal and a good rest the night before!

When you think about it, Christians should be the healthiest, happiest people on earth! After all, we know where we're going, we have life's instruction manual (the Bible), and we serve a God who has shown us, through His Word, how to take care of His temple—our bodies. But only if we take the necessary steps to be healthy will we be able to enjoy the abundance God promises.

Our bodies are the physical vessel that God uses while we're here on earth; we need to take care of it in honor of Him. Jesus Himself borrowed an earthly body while He was here on earth, and He wants to use you to accomplish even greater things!

Lord,
I am ready to receive from you the gift of good health. I want my soul to prosper and I want to walk in victory over sickness and exhaustion. I commit the next 30 days to rebuilding my body for your glory, not mine. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen
